Batching Content To Save Time

Buttercup, can I ask you a question?

Do you meal prep?

In case you’re not familiar with the term, meal prepping is a way to reduce daily tasks in the kitchen by doing all of the preparations ahead of time. Die hard meal preppers even get their whole week of meals prepped in ONE sitting!

No, I am NOT one of those people.

*Heck, I’m rarely even in the kitchen! Shoutout to my husband JD!*

But I do apply this efficiency method in other places of my life…specifically in my business.

It’s called batch working.

>>Batch working is simply putting similar tasks together to increase efficiency and decrease redundancy.<<

A great example for batch working is planning social media content (for the week, month, etc.).

So how is meal prepping similar to batch working?

Let’s take a look at how to batch work social media content for your business in a way that meal preppers batch work their kitchen tasks:

Make a plan

Meal Preppers:

  • Write down all meals for the week
  • Create a grocery list and buy necessary supplies
  • Determine what food can be prepared ahead of time
  • Plan a time to prepare meals

Batch Workers:

  • Write out content plan on a calendar (Download my free Productivity Planner >>HERE!<<)
  • Create a list of images and captions needed
  • Determine what posts can be completed ahead of time
  • Plan a time to prepare posts

Prep

Meal Preppers:

  • Categorize processes (cleaning, cutting, cooking, etc.)
  • Divide processes into tasks
  • Execute!

Batch Workers:

  • Categorize processes (getting photos, writing captions, researching hashtags, etc.)
  • Divide processes into tasks
  • Execute!

Toss it all together

Meal Preppers:

  • Put prepared food into containers and label
  • Rinse and repeat!

Batch Workers:

  • Put planned posts into scheduling platform or put a calendar reminder to post in real time
  • Rinse and repeat!

Mission accomplished!

*OK, so maybe neither of these processes are that simple, but isn’t it crazy how similar they are?!*

I may not be a master in meal prepping (or even in the kitchen), but it’s easy to see that batching social media content can save a lot of time…and I’m all about that!

>>Having a plan prevents me from feeling overwhelmed, and batch working is a way to match my BIG ambitions with actions.<<

Now, I have to admit that I’m no die hard batch worker by any means.

  • Am I batching as much as I’d like? No.
  • Is it possible? YES.

Someday, I hope to have my life together enough to be able to batch ALL of my content, but for right now I’m doing what I can.

And you can too, boo boo!

Let’s take baby steps together, and soon, we’ll be batch working pros!
