Name: Melisa Brown
Business Name: Lux Lifestyle Event Llc
Founded: 2005

Describe your business. Lux Lifestyle Events offers a range of event planning services from full event planning, which range from wedding planning, corporate events, engagement parties, destination weddings and more. We take great care in providing a level of service that enhances the excitement and fun you’ll have while planning your event.

What did you do before starting your business in the wedding industry? My journey to become a planner was not conventional.  I started out going to school for technology & design which led to me working for Apple Inc as a creative. I then found a passion for clothing design which led me to produce my first show during Fashion Week for Fame Rocks Fashion Week in NY. In between fashion shows, I would plan events for colleagues and friends which led to my growing love for decor. I was asked to plan my sister’s wedding and once I planned and executed that, I was hooked. I then decided to try my hand at being a wedding planner and have not looked back since. I now get to incorporate every aspect of my journey into my career as a planner. I use my background in technology, fashion and production to create fabulous weddings. I feel so fulfilled when my brides see their wedding dreams come to fruition.

How long have you been in the wedding industry? Been in the industry for 14 Years.

How would you describe your style? My vision of style takes inspiration from the neoclassical concept of “perfect beauty” as a result of equilibrium. The organization of a sophisticated event requires a balanced mix of details, elements and style. I’ll make it my challenge to offer a higher level of personalization by attending to my client’s wishes, ideas and passions! Equilibrium results from the combination of your wishes, the beauty and elegance of your venu and my touch!

What motivates you? My mother, who was my mentor, owned her own clothing business and was very influential in the fashion industry. Island life became my first teacher. I learned how to be innovative while thinking outside the box. I learned about decor through my mother who was always aesthetic and an avid collector of beautiful fine China’s.

Why should brides/grooms choose you? Planning, coordinating and managing can be extremely distressing. A positive attitude and empathy are the invaluable assets which allow me to reassure even the most apprehensive bride! If you’re looking for a reliable, trustable and smiling planner able to realize one of a kind events and bring your vision to life, I’m here waiting for you with your brand-new challenge.

How does your company define and measure success? Success is best measured by how far you’ve come with the talent you’ve been given. Which ultimately led to the growing empire I manage today, Lux Lifestyle Event Inc.. I focuses on my client’s dreams in order to ensure the entire experience is as unique as they are and a success.

What do you enjoy most about your work? I am is really big on DIY. A lot of my projects are hands-on and creations that I thought through and executed on my own. I create custom-designed flower walls, stages, backdrop and am very involved in creating the detailed pieces incorporated into every event planned. It brings me great joy when I bring my clients’ vision to reality. My motto is “If you can dream it, we can achieve it.”

Describe a proud moment while working in the wedding industry. My idea for “Lux Lifestyle Events” started while running my first company, The New York Fame. I produced fashion events in New York during New York Fashion Week for top and emerging designers around the world. I have worked with talents such as Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show, Season 1 finalist Reco Chapple, Korto Momolu winner of the 5th season of Bravo’s hit show Project Runway, and Stevie Boi, who’s designs have been worn by the likes of Lady GaGa, Teyanna Taylor, Lisa Raye, Meagan Good,Michelle Rodriguez, Rosa Acosta, Dawn Richards and Eva Marcille to name a few. My eye for details and production made it an easy transition when deciding to try my hand at wedding production. Lux Lifestyle Event weddings are truly a full on produced show.

What’s the best compliment you’ve received for your work? “Throughout the process, I bombarded Melisa at any hour of the day/night with my many ideas, concerns and questions but she never got impatient or frustrated and answered all my questions and queries. From the inception, she understood my vision and because of her creativity, brilliant planning, patience our wedding was indeed magical. The day of the wedding everything was seamlessly managed and any crisis that arose she handled without my knowledge. Melissa not only enhanced the wedding planning process but our wedding day experience. It was a flawless, beautiful and magical day. Melisa is indeed a G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) and I would highly recommend her to anyone.”

What are your business goals? Looking ahead, Lux Lifestyle Event LLc looks to expand the brand by moving to other major locations such as Atlanta, Paris, Italy, Milan and more. Not only are we looking to bring the Lux brand to these major countries, but create a power house brand While setting an influential mark on todays Wedding & Event Industry. Bringing dreams to reality. As our Motto “If you can dream it, We can Do it”

What’s your favorite part of the wedding industry? My Favorite part of the wedding industry is seeing the expression on my clients face from a room reveal. It seals it for me knowing that we were successful in creating our clients dream wedding.

What’s your least favorite part of the wedding industry? My least favorite part of the wedding industry is the politics behind the support system between vendors. As a planner I love to network and work with other vendors who have a common interest and goal. It is our duty to support each other educate and grown the next generation of planners and vendors to keep this Industry growing. I find great joy in mentoring our new generation and we should make it our duty to continue share our knowledge in this industry.

Describe your vision of the “perfect” wedding. Our vision of the perfect wedding, is the bride that gives us full control. Far too many brides wish they’d spent less time worrying and more time having fun. My advice is to be in the moment, the day goes by so quickly, and you really want to be there, emotionally.

Where do you find the most inspiration? My vision of style takes inspiration from my clients’ vision, international wedding sites, and Pinterest. I like to be creative and different, So a mixture of my creativity, fashion, and technology combined gives life to a lot of my wedding decor inspiration.
