Let me set the record straight, boo boo: I’m an introvert.
No amount of time, speaking events, or live videos is ever going to change that.
Most people don’t believe me when I claim to be introverted. They assume that I’m an extrovert because all they see is the outgoing version of me.
But I’m 100% an introvert. Always have been, always will be.
So why do I do such seemingly extroverted things?
>>I’ve learned that the things I want in life will only come when I step out of my comfort zone.<<
My comfort zone is NOT out in public, speaking to others about my life’s passion. *Cue the sweaty palms and butterflies!*
My comfort zone is at home in sweatpants, chilling with my pup, Polo, and ordering DoorDash. *My husband lovingly jokes that if he wasn’t around, I would never leave the house…and he’s probably right.*
*However*, my comfort zone doesn’t allow me to fulfill my purpose, which is helping people realize that impossibilities are just possibilities in disguise. Hiding behind the title of “introvert” gets me nowhere.
>>So, I refuse to let my introverted tendencies dictate my future success.<<
Although I’m sometimes tempted to crawl into a hole and not speak to anyone for days on end, I push past it and put myself out there. I dig deep to find my inner outgoing self when I engage with others.
And you know what, Buttercup?
The proverbial saying is true: The more you do something, the easier it gets.
Like learning to walk, ride a bike, or drive a car, I have taught myself how to be outgoing. Attending speaking events isn’t as difficult for me as they used to be, *but* I DO still collapse onto my pillow afterward, completely exhausted from the stimulation. *My fellow introverted homies out there will get it!*
You know that other saying: Nothing worth having comes easy? That’s true too, my friend.
>>In order to get what you want, you must get really comfortable with being uncomfortable.<<
For me, engaging as an introvert is hard. It’s unnatural. It’s against the grain. But it is SO worth it.
So boo, if you’re an introvert like me, I urge you to step out of that little comfort zone of yours. There’s growth and potential waiting for you on the other side. All you have to do is reach for it!
