High School Sweethearts: Chic Engagement Session in Arkansas

High School sweethearts Tianna and Derrick first met in their ninth-grade Social Studies class.

“He would make jokes all the time,” Tianna fondly recalls of their initial meeting and the endless laughter they continue to share to this day. Their official first date was that cute classic of dinner and a movie, remaining inseparable as soulmates since freshman year of high school. When the moment came for Derrick to take a knee, he created their perfect proposal opportunity under the guise of an anniversary couple’s photoshoot in the auditorium of their high school alma mater where their love story first began, and their family awaited in surprise. Derrick and Tianna look forward to exchanging vows on their wedding day this summer in Little Rock.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal! We met in our 9th grade Social Studies class. He would make jokes all the time. On March 8, 2019, he proposed at our high school(Little Rock Hall High). The plan was to take pictures for our anniversary. As we entered the auditorium, I thought nothing of the aligned balloons on each row. We continued to take beautiful pictures and before I knew it, he was confessing his love and affirmations to me. He took a knee, the curtains opened, and our family and friends appeared from behind with celebratory balloons and poppers. It was indeed a beautiful moment.

Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was fun and intimate. We were going for a chic look which gave way to our sophisticated theme.

What did you do on your first date? We went to the movies together and to dinner (9th grade).

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We enjoy our sessions of endless laughter and watching the latest movie.
