Scroll-Stopping Captions: Quick Captions Quiz

Buttercup, are you tired of nobody engaging with your posts?

I know the frustration of writing an Instagram post…and then watching in agony as no one leaves a comment.

*Not even my mama would talk back to me!*

>>When people like, comment, or share your post, it’s their way of telling you that they enjoy your content.<<

Along with posting valuable content on social media, it’s important to encourage engagement from your audience so you can get feedback on that content.

Because I’m a social media nerd *and proud of it!*, I created a Quick Caption Quiz as a foolproof way to measure how interesting or engaging a caption is.

*And yes, now my mama engages with my posts, so you KNOW this method works!*

Ask yourself these three questions before you publish a post to see if you’re properly set up for engagement.

1. Would my dream customer find this caption helpful, informative, or interesting?

Put yourself in the shoes of the reader to help you determine the value that the caption provides. Give them something to take away from after reading your post.

2. Am I giving my dream customer a way or reason to respond?

Provide options and/or questions so your audience knows what type of response you’re looking for. Open-ended captions tend to confuse people, so they wind up not engaging, even if the content is amazing!

3. Does it explain who I am or what I do?

Build trust with your audience by sharing information about yourself and your business. Help them get to know you better so they’re more likely to engage.

Friend, these three questions are easy, and the answers are even easier: Yes or No. Construct your captions so they answer “Yes” to at least two of these questions.

Let’s put this quiz into action by comparing two caption options:

Caption #1: “I like coffee.”

  • Would my dream customer find this caption helpful, informative, or interesting? No
  • Am I giving my dream customer a way or reason to respond? No
  • Does it explain who I am or what I do? No

Caption #2: “I like adding cinnamon, turmeric, and coconut oil to my coffee to create a healthy twist to my favorite morning drink. This keeps me going strong all day with my photoshoots. Would you add turmeric to your coffee?”

  • Would my dream customer find this caption helpful, informative, or interesting? Yes
  • Am I giving my dream customer a way or reason to respond? Yes
  • Does it explain who I am or what I do? Yes

Which caption would you be more likely to engage with?

The second one, of course!

>>If you’re willing to put in the extra leg work to draft and craft a caption that promotes engagement based on these three questions, you’ll be happy with the results!<<

Then, you can sit back and watch the radical effect these results have on what you share online…and how people respond!

As always, let me know if you have any helpful advice to add. Head over to Instagram and send me a DM! *Go ahead, engage with me, boo!*
